The Fourth Blessing:‘Fear Not Mary (or, Mary, You Do Not Need to Fear)’
This fourth blessing of God is not an empty, random, or weak promise. When God says, ‘do not fear’, He doesn’t just walk off and leave us to get on with it; Our Father then gives us the required authority to oppose fear and dread. The Lord knows that without Him we are extremely vulnerable and, consequently, we become exposed to all types of mental and emotional attacks. In verse 28, the Lord assured Mary of His continuous and unfailing Presence. It is God’s Presence that empowers us to stand strong against this spirit called ‘fear’. Fear then has to submit to us. As we conquer fear, it no longer has dominion over us, until finally, we are able to declare with all honestly and absolute assurance that, ‘fear is no longer our portion’.
