Text: 2 Kings 4:11–14
‘And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there. And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite… Behold, thou hast been careful about us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? … And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child’

‘Building The Chamber Pt 3. What Is There To Be Done For You?’
One day, Elisha entered the chamber the Shunammite had prepared and rested there. From that very place, he said to Gehazi, ‘Call this Shunammite.’
The woman who had made room for the man of God was now being summoned to the very room she had prepared. Think about that.
She had built the chamber asking for nothing in return. She simply discerned, prepared and made room. Yet from within the place she had built came a summons: ‘Call the Shunammite’. This woman’s attention was on ‘Kingdom building’, now that attention was turned towards her: ‘What is there to be done for you?
What she had built for another became the place from which her own need was noticed.
There are times when God will allow your obedience to speak before you ever utter a request. The Shunammite Woman did not build because she wanted something; she built because she had discerned something. Yet God saw beyond what she was doing and into the place of what she was carrying.
While you are busy making ‘room’ for God, God is preparing to address ‘the room’ in your life that has remained empty. There are seasons when God remembers the builder. Hebrews 6:10 reminds us that ‘God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love.’ Heaven does not overlook faithful service. Heaven sees the prayers nobody applauded, the sacrifices nobody acknowledged, the tears behind the obedience and the meticulous care with which you continued building when nobody appeared to notice. So, keep building. That chamber you are meticulously building today will, no doubt, become connected to tomorrow’s testimony.
Woman of God, this is the word for you today.
Let us Pray
– Father, thank You that You are not unrighteous to forget my work and labour of love.
– Lord, remember every seed planted in obedience, every unseen sacrifice and every act of faithful service.
– I declare that unanswered prayers will not stop me from faithfully building for Your Glory.
– Father, let what I am building for Your Kingdom become a blessing to generations after me.
– I declare that Heaven sees what is done in secret; therefore, I will remain faithful.
– Lord, help me to serve You from love and not from a desire for reward. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
