Scarred but not discarded Day 19

People praying and interceding during a faith event at Talitha Cumi Empowerment, focusing on prayer and spiritual healing. Scarred but not discarded Day 19

The Bible is full of stories about different people interacting with God on a personal level. Isn’t it amazing, that Our God who created the Universe…the God who has the whole world in His hands, also knows exactly who you are; where you are; what you are up to; and why.

God was there with Leah: Leah was fully aware that she wasn’t Jacob’s choice for a wife and thus, she was left feeling like an ‘after-thought’; a ‘second-hand’ wife; rejected; unwanted; and unloved. God took note of Leah’s anguish and blessed her womb. Leah went on to bare Jacob seven children, six boys and one girl, (Genesis 29:31).

Despite Rahab’s cultural background, coupled with her dubious occupation, God ‘saw’ her, loved her, and saved her. Rahab later married an Israelite; the incredible paradox of this story is that both King David and King Jesus came from the lineage of this harlot from Jericho. Who would have seen this coming? (Matthew 1:5).

Abigail had a terrible marriage, her husband was miserable, cantankerous, hostile, unpleasant and an intimidating ‘fool’. God did a quick work in Abigail’s marriage, by shifting out Nabal, ‘the fool of a husband’, and shifting in David, ‘the King’. Now, that is what I would call a ‘Great Exchange’, (1 Samuel 25:37-41).

I do not know who I am talking to right now, but God wants me to tell you that, ‘It will be well’. You may no longer be in your own home, or with your own family, or in your own country, but ‘It will be well’. You have been waiting patiently for your family to be restored, for a place to call home, to be out of this crippling debt, for your bodies to be whole, for a hopeful future: God is saying, if you trust Him, He will cause you to become fruitful in the land of your affliction, (Genesis 41:52).

In Hosea 6:1-3, God promises to heal us… fold us in His arms, revive us… raise us up and we will live in His sight…And He will come to us as rain, both the latter and former rain together’. Can you imagine? God coming to us as both the ‘former and latter rain’? Now, that is what I call, ‘A Double Portion’. Hallelujah.

PROPHETIC PRAYER
– You are a very ‘Personal God’ and You seek to relate to us on a ‘Personal level’.
– We want to move beyond just hearing about You, God. We want to know You.
– Father, we need our own personal testimony. David called You El-Roi: ‘My Shepheard’. Abraham called You, El Shaddai: A God who is ‘More Than Enough’. Isaiah called You, Rapha: A God who ‘Heals’. And Jesus called You: Abba: ‘My Father’. Oh, that I may know You…
– Today, we return to You with all our hearts. Reveal to us Your heart, Oh God.
– Heal us; Bind us up; Revive Us; Raise us up; Come unto us as rain; Come like the former and latter rain; We seek Your ‘double portion’. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
