WORD: Finding Favour with God- Favour or Kabod
In the Old Testament, the word ‘favour’ was often used interchangeably with other words such as ‘honour’, or ‘glory’, it comes from the Hebrew word, ‘Kabod’. Kabod means heavy or weighty. In this case it involves placing a ‘weight of honour’ or a ‘position of great glory’ on someone, to set someone apart for recognition, commendation, adoration, or glorification. Each year the queen would recognize ordinary people for honour, and often, these people would utilize their newly found position to gain access into places that was once closed to them. The ‘Kabod’ of God is a divine activity that gives ordinary people ‘favourable access’ into extra-ordinary places. Thus, God’s Glory comes with positional authority, greater access in dimensional levels, spiritual recognition, accompanied by supernatural provision and protection.
The ’favour or Kabod’ of God shifted David from the backside of the desert and into the place of kingship; it gave Jabez greater honour that that of his brethren.
