Text: 2 Kings 4:9-10
‘And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God, which passes by us continually. Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick’

‘Building The Chamber. Pt 1. Build With What You Have’
The Shunammite Woman did not ask God to visit her house; she created room for His presence to stay in her house.
Having discerned that Elisha was a holy man of God, she moved beyond recognition into preparation. She said to her husband, ‘Let us make a little chamber.’ Her discernment produced a decision, her decision produced action, and her action created an environment where the supernatural could dwell.
There is a difference between wanting God to move and making room for God to move.
The chamber was not elaborate. It contained a bed, a table, a stool and a candlestick. Yet everything necessary had been thoughtfully provided. She used what she had and where she was to honour what God had placed before her. She teaches us that you do not have to possess everything before you can begin building something for God.
Woman of God, what is in your house?
When Moses questioned his ability to fulfil his assignment, God asked him, ‘What is that in thine hand?’ When the widow faced financial devastation, Elisha asked, ‘What hast thou in the house?’ When Jesus fed the multitude, He began with what was already available: ‘five loaves and two fish’.
God has a history of beginning with what remains, not with what is missing.
You may not have everything you desire, but you have something with which to build. There is something in your hand, something in your house, something in your experience, something in your testimony, something in your gift, something in your prayer life that God can use.
Build with what you have.
Let Us Pray
– Father, make my life a dwelling place for Your Presence.
– Lord, show me what You have already placed in my hands and teach me how to use it for Your Glory.
– I refuse to despise what appears small. Father, breathe upon what I have.
– Give me the grace to build with meticulous care, excellence and integrity.
– Father, remove every distraction that has caused me to neglect what You have called me to build.
