Set-up to Step-up Day 9

Text: 2 Kings 4:12-13.
‘It fell on a day that Elisha passed through Shunem, where there lived a great woman; And she would often implore him to stop and eat. She discerned Elisha to be a holy man of God and decided to build him a chamber so that he could stop by and find rest. Elisha said to Gehazi, call this Shunammite Woman, say to her, you have been meticulous in your care for us, ‘ What Is There To Be Done For You? ’

Word: Serving leads to promise.
By Sister Kristen Johnson-Boateng

One act of Kingdom obedience can change your life forever. A reward was not the intention of the Shunammite. This notable woman was more focused on discerning and supplying the needs of the ‘man of God’. Perhaps you can relate to this, you have fixed your eyes on serving and helping everyone else but yourself. You have sought refuge in Kingdom business, whilst at the same time you have laid down your own personal needs, perhaps thinking that your time was up. You have convinced yourself to stop holding on. You tell God to choose someone else. You reason within yourself that there is no point. Nevertheless, God has a funny way of reminding us that with Him it is never too late, neither is it over.

The ‘Set-Up’ for the Shunammite woman started with ‘Kingdom Business’. Without realising it, she began serving the man of God without knowing that he would give her access to a miraculous promise. A promise that seemed so distant and impossible to reach, but the God we serve specialises in making the impossible possible. She was asked whilst serving, whilst pouring into someone else: ‘What is there to be done for you?’ Too many times, we find ourselves trying to manifest the promise ourselves and get frustrated when it doesn’t happen, but God says in Matthew 6:33, ‘Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you’. It’s a Biblical principle that cannot fail, when we put God’s kingdom first, he will give to us the hidden things of our hearts, even without us uttering them.

Remaining faithful in all times and seasons create opportunities for supernatural breakthrough. It is imperative we discern these unexpected seasons and be prepared for the things God wants to do in our lives. What are some of the things that you have released over the years? The unspoken things that you’ve allowed to slide and the things you have just stopped praying about? This is the season to bring everything into the chamber of God. God wants you to know that He never forgets any of your deep yearnings. God sees You. God hears you. And God is here right now to astonish and amaze you. Hallelujah.

Let us Pray
– Father, help me to see the hidden areas in my life that I have not completely brought to your altar… The things that act as hinderance to the promise
– Lord, let me not get weary in well-doing knowing that I shall reap if I do not faint.
– God help me to be continually diligent in the things pertaining to Your Kingdom.
– Father, keep me from ignorance. Let me not take my ‘Kingdom assignment’ for granted. Help me to understand that serving your kingdom is one of the most important things I can do in this lifetime.
– Let me be vulnerable enough to bring all the broken pieces, all the let downs, all the delays and all the unseen promise to your feet, knowing that you’re still able to reignite, restore, re-establish, refresh them. In Jesus name. Amen.
– Father, I want to build my relationship with you. Sharpen my discernment. I want to hear and know Your voice. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
