2 Kings 4:12-13
‘One day Elisha was passing through Shunem, where there lived a great woman; She would often implore him to stop and eat. One day she told her husband that she discerned Elisha to be a holy man of God, and she decided to build him a chamber so that he could stop and find rest. Elisha said to Gehazi, call this Shunammite Woman, say to her, you have been thoughtful in your care for us, ‘ What Is There To Be Done For You? ’
Word
God’s Kingdom Agents are on assignment for the fulfilling of God’s will here on earth. Kingdom people are God’s Ecclesia, His chosen remnant, His Church, His Bride. God’s Church has a responsibility of stewardship, one that began in the Garden of Eden. Despite humanity’s fall, that stewardship was never revoked. In whatever capacity or territory we may find ourselves, our duty is stewardship and holy governance.
Every area we find yourself (wherever the sole of our feet walks), that territory belongs to us. My house, or my bedroom is my domain. It is my job to keep my assigned location not just safe but favourable for successful living. Thus, we would never allow a burglar to enter our family space intentionally. What am I trying to say? We have been given authorization to recognise who comes in and who goes out of our assigned location; whether it be our city, our institutions, our communities, and our Church. There are some ‘beings’ who come to cause harm, and others who come with Holy intent. The Shunammite Woman ‘perceived that Elisha was a holy man’ and she compelled him to stay. The woman went on to build Elisha a ‘chamber’, sealing her care with a tangible structure. This action was to change the trajectory of this woman’s life permanently. The Shunammite saw Elisha as ‘holy’. Elisha’s holy presence flooded her home, creating open doors of favour.
This woman’s action can be likened unto that of Obededom, who housed the Ark of God in his home, creating an overflow of blessings. Obededom was so blessed, his testimony reached the ears of King David, (2 Samuel 6:11 & 1 Chronicles 13:14). The Shunammite’s testimony was also apparent, because she became pregnant, just like Elisha prophesied. What a ‘Set-Up’. Let us walk and work with meticulous care my friends, staying alert to every God-given assignment, it could just be a ‘Set-Up’ to your next ‘Step-Up’.
Let Us Pray
– Today, Lord, I want to make my prayers personal. I’m hungry for more of You. I’m desperate to see Your Face. Like Jacob, ‘I will not let you go until You bless me’.
– I declare that You are the focus of my ‘Next Season’; The Author and Finisher of my Faith. Thus, the course of my journey must begin and end with You.
– Father, If I have grown stubborn, self-righteous, obstinate, too busy, overwhelmed, or distracted: Please Holy Spirit, arrest me, convict me, transform me, and redirect me.
– This is the season whereby I must move in alignment with the shifting of the Holy Spirit.
– Where He may lead me, I will go. For I have learnt to trust Him so… Jesus shall lead me night and day. Jesus shall lead me all the way. He is the truest friend to me, when I remember Calvery.
– Lead me Father and let me follow unafraid. As the cloud of Glory moves, let me move with the cloud.
– A Cloud of Glory by day… A Pillar of Fire by night. Father, let me be ready for my ‘Set-Up’, knowing that this will catapult me into my ‘Step-Up’. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
