Word: ‘Behold I Stand At The Door And Knock: If Anyone Open’
The young lady’s name was Rhoda, and she stands as a representative of you and I. Rhoda is attending a prayer meeting in the House of Mary, (John’s mother). They have been informed that the Apostle Peter is in prison, and like James, the brother of John, he too is to be executed. It was for this reason ‘prayer was made without ceasing by the church for him’ (Acts 12:5).
Whilst they are praying, there is a knock at the gate, and Rhoda goes to see who it could be. However, when she realises it is Peter’s voice, she did not open the door due to her gladness but ran inside informing everyone gathered that Peter was standing at the gate (Acts 12:14).
What a contradiction people of God, the answer to the very thing that you are praying for is standing at the door, yet you are unprepared, or perhaps feeling unqualified to reveal its manifestation. Perhaps, as she stood at the door listening, she was convinced it was Peter’s voice, yet she felt compelled to let someone else ‘take the glory’. After all, she was just a ‘maid’ in the ‘Kingdom of God’, therefore, not worthy for such major demonstrations. Though she had been part of the group that prayed and dreamed for Peter’s release, she felt it was not in her jurisdiction to open the door. So, the young maid runs inside looking for someone with a greater spiritual position, someone with divine prominence, someone with delegated authority to affirm that she had indeed witnessed a miracle and not a mirage.
People of God, there may be times when we do not feel qualified enough to receive, see, or participate in God’s supernatural miracles. There may be times when we have heard God’s voice knocking, but we refuse to ‘open the door’ because we do not think that we are on the same spiritual level as the others.
Let me encourage you today, God is aware of who you are. The ‘Covenant Deal’ He made concerning you is of the same substance as the one He arranged for the affluent. Jesus is your ‘Kingsman-Redeemer’, and you are His ‘Bride’, not a ‘side-chick’. Furthermore, your miracle is waiting at the door, it is real, authentic, and astoundingly incredible. You are not an option or an alternative, therefore ‘hand-me-downs’ is not your portion. God’s plan for your life is not a ‘second-hand’ gift from a charity shop, and you will not go through doors to inherit ‘fake gold’. God’s plan for your life is to ‘prosper you, to give you a hope and a future’. So go right ahead and open the door and let your miracle manifest. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
