And It Came to Pass – Day 7 |1 Samuel 1:12-18
The Bible is full of stories about different people interacting with God on a personal level. Isn’t it amazing, that our God who created the Universe…the God who has the whole world in His hands, also knows exactly who you are and where you’re at. God knows your story. Just like He knew all about the grief in Eve’s heart when she found out that both her sons were gone from her forever. Nevertheless, God knows how to cause His people to be ‘fruitful’ again. Eve went on to bare another son, calling his name, Seth, because she saw that God had not abandoned her, but enabled her to experience a ‘second chance’. (Genesis 4:25). And God will do the same for you.
I do not know who I am talking to right now, but God wants me to tell you that, ‘It will be well’. You may no longer be in your own home, or with your own family, or in your own country, but ‘It will be well’. You have been waiting patiently for your family to be restored, for a place to call home, to be out of this crippling debt, for your bodies to be whole, for a secure and sure future. God is saying, if you trust Him, He will do for you exactly what He did for Hannah. The theme text decares, ’It Came To Pass’ that the Lord remembered Hannah… because ‘she conceived, and bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord’. (1 Samuel 1:19-20). People of God, the story does not end there, after Hannah surrenders Samuel to Eli the prophet, the Lord visits Hannah again, ‘So that she conceives, and bare three sons and two daughters’. This message right here… deserves a ‘praise break’. Hallelujah.
Does God intervene in the affairs of mankind? Of course He does: God is not willing that His people perish, He wants us to live life, abundantly; lavishly; extravagantly, and generously under His gracious provision, (John 10:10). Today, you may be feeling afflicted, troubled, worried, tossed about with the stresses of life: So much so, that you cannot be comforted…’Listen to what I, The Lord says, I am going to enlarge your foundations with precious stones and like Hannah you will sing’,
‘My heart rejoices in the Lord, He has exalted me, causing my mouth to be enlarged over mine enemies; He is my Rock. No more proud talking; no more arrogancy: For the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. The barren has born seven; The Lord raises up the poor and lifts up the beggar. He will keep the feet of his saints and exalt the horn of his anointed’. (1 Samuel 2:1-10)
