The Tenth Blessing
Today, we will be reflecting on the tenth blessing found in Luke 1:30-38.
‘The Holy Ghost Shall Come Upon You’
In Luke 1:34, Mary asked the question, ‘How shall this be seeing I know not a man?’.
Isn’t it amazing that when God chooses to favour us, we begin to search for a ‘suitable man’, other than ourselves, for God to manifest through. We find it easier to have faith in physical resources, than depend on ‘Divine intervention’. Even though it was God who promised us a miracle, we still insist on looking to a ‘natural man’, to provide the spiritual result.
Some of us are fully aware that the answer to our prayers can only be God: unquestionably, undeniably, and undoubtably God. Yet, when we are told that the ‘Extravagant Favour’ of God is about to be released upon us, we continue to ask, ‘How can this be seeing I know not a man?’ With this in mind, we end up looking for a ‘man who can’.
Then, there are others who struggle to believe that they actually qualify for God’s miracle.
